The challenge

G.A. Precision (GAP) needed to upgrade its old Magento 2.2 website to a newer Adobe Commerce version to enhance the site with new features, market new offerings, and ensure it was up to date with the latest security protocols.  GAP also understood the importance of website performance and required a lightning-fast shopping experience that blended commerce and content. In addition, GAP’s product data had fallen into disrepair from years of poor data management which necessitated a data cleanup effort.

Approach

G.A. Precision chose Binary Anvil’s headless platform for Adobe Commerce – “Flux”. Flux provides G.A. Precision’s site flexibility by decoupling the frontend from the backend.  Flux, using a combination of React, Nextjs, and i18next, creates a totally new frontend experience no longer dependent on the limitations of CSS and HTML and is connected to Adobe Commerce’s backend via GraphQL.  This headless approach greatly simplifies Adobe Commerce upgrades, increases flexibility regarding frontend customizations, and reduces total cost of ownership (TCO) by reducing time and effort needed for maintenance and development work.

What we did

01 ECOMMERCE RE-PLATFORM TO HEADLESS (FLUX) 

Binary Anvil re-platformed G.A. Precision's website from an older unsupported Magento version to the latest version of Adobe Commerce with a decoupled presentation layer facilitated by Binary Anvil’s Flux headless platform. With Flux, the Adobe Commerce backend handles the core commerce functionality, such as product catalog management, inventory management, order processing, and customer management. Flux interacts with the backend through APIs to fetch and update data.

02 WEBSITE REDESIGN 

Redesigned the website to significantly improve user experience and keep it modern without deviating from the brand’s identity.

03 ENHANCED CATALOG ARCHITECTURE

Provided a more detailed catalog architecture that vastly improves customer shopping experience. We also streamlined the product attributes, attribute sets, and categorization for ease and accessibility in terms of admin management. 

04 ENHANCED MAIN NAVIGATION

Binary Anvil designed and implemented a custom main navigation, dynamic ad space is added in the main navigation that can change based on what category the customer is viewing. Category thumbnail images were also incorporated into the 3rd level of the navigation menu.

05 CUSTOM TESTIMONIALS AND GALLERY PAGE

Binary Anvil designed and implemented a custom testimonials page where the customer can submit their testimonial of their experience using GAP products, submit photos of these experiences, as well as view the photos & testimonials from other customers. These testimonials and gallery submissions are curated in the Adobe Commerce admin to provide control and ease of management for the administrator.

06 CUSTOM FORM BUILDER

Binary Anvil implemented an extension that allows the customer to create fillable forms that can be used on any page on the website. The submitted data can be easily managed in the Adobe Commerce admin.

07 ADDITIONAL PDP/PLP LAYOUTS FOR SPECIFIED PRODUCTS 

Binary Anvil implemented a specialized Product Detail Page (PDP) layout for G.A. Precision's custom rifles, highlighting their intricate details. This layout features a much larger product image that utilizes the maximum amount of horizontal real estate compared to the standard/native PDP layout. Additionally, the layout includes a gallery section on each rifle's PDP to enable customers to effortlessly explore high-definition pictures highlighting the products' finer details.
